Telecom carrier

The project

Countries:

Mobile services deployed in Senegal, Rwanda and Chad.

Context:

As part of its deployment, the Customer needs solutions to expand its national coverage.

This Telecom operator must also optimize its infrastructure costs, interconnect with other operators and ensure the security of its network.

Customer's needs

The customer needs to put in place in Senegal:

  • A solution to backhaul the GSM traffic from over 50 remote sites.

  • Stable links to ensure the quality of service delivered to its customers.

  • Optimizing the overall cost of network.

  • Interconnection for exchanging international voice traffic and internet.

Afinis solution

  • A VSAT star network bringing all traffic of 50 GSM sites to the central site, in line with the requirements of the specifications of the operator.

  • The analysis of the bandwidth and equipment required.

  • A technology for dynamically allocating bandwidth (TDMA).

  • An innovative technical solution using IP technology to GSM.

  • Equipment needs to optimize the compression of traffic, homogeneous over all sections, V-SAT and terrestrial.

  • International Bandwidth from gateways providing voice and data access (thus including the internet) for international interconnection.

Results

  • Compliance objectives and deployment schedule.

  • Optimization of bandwidth, reducing to 80% needs compared to a conventional system point to point.

  • A reduction in capex (capital expenditures) by innovative technologies (IP).

  • The required security through a dedicated capacity.

  • The ability to offer complete geographical coverage.
